Hi there. I’m Renée. I want to welcome you to my pixelated kitchen and let you know I’m glad you’re here! I’m a girl who is relatively new to cooking but it has brought such joy into my life and I want to share that with you. I started learning how to cook about two years ago after one of those clichéd “wake up and open your eyes” moments and I knew I had to start taking control of my own health. With enormous help from google and hundreds of cooking blogs I read along the way I slowly became a person who fell in love with the whole process of cooking at home. And sometimes, just sometimes, even doing the dishes makes me smile.
I like to think I no longer have “food” in my house, I only have ingredients to make food. When I look in my pantry and see rice and onions now I’m able to also see a seemingly endless possibility of flavors to wrap around them leaving me an almost infinite number of meals. I want happy food bites to be an encouragement to my fellow amateurs that yes you can cook great tasting and (mostly) healthy food so if you have questions about anything I post, please feel free to ask in the comments and I’ll let you know what I’ve learned along the way so far. I also want this blog to be a tool for those whose are looking for recipe inspiration. Sometimes I just make a quick salad, sometimes I attempt recipes that require overnight steps; you’ll find an eclectic collection here but I hope all of the bites you try your hand at are happy ones!
